“Why aren’t students coming to my office hours?” Office hours provide an opportunity for student-faculty interaction, one key benchmark of effective educational practice. Yet this potential goes unrealized if students do not show up, or feel uncomfortable. Come to this session to better understand students’ expectations of office hours and the types of interactions students perceive to be most helpful. We will discuss our research on why students attend office hours and what they experience during these visits. We will address how we can leverage office hours to enhance student learning through valuable student-faculty interaction.
