Graduate Student Teaching Orientations
The Teaching and Learning Transformation Center's August 2020 Graduate Student Teaching Orientation will consist of both asynchronous and synchronous learning materials, although both are not required for all graduate student teachers.
Asynchronous materials -
These self-paced videos, web materials, tip sheets and templates have been carefully curated to provide support for the common challenges and responsibilities of most graduate instructors.
Synchronous learning -
QUICKSTART TO TEACHING ONLINE (FOR GRADUATE STUDENT INSTRUCTORS AND TAS)
Whether you are the instructor of record, leading a discussion or lab session, or working behind the scenes, this workshop will set you up for success as a graduate student instructor or TA. When you sign up for this workshop, you can expect:
- A 2-hour, interactive session that covers best practices for interacting with students online including inclusive practices, strategies for building community, and designing assessments and activities.
- Templates for a welcoming course site designed for optimal user experience and online assignment, assessment, and grading tools that can be customized for your course.
- A review of resources available to help you and/or your instructional team implement and customize your course site.
